Hope Alz is a translator and a journalist. The theme in her life which is stability at the heart of her competitive edge, driven by out-loud exploration of ideas, reliable relationships, and an edge for competency.
Hope finds great joy in the work she does. In the current company she works for, she believes she’s going to reach a senior position, but is in no hurry to do that. She feels that she needs more experience before she can take on such a position. Yet she has a confidence that she will eventually wind up in the place she should be, but prefers to keep doing what she’s doing, as she actually enjoys the activity of her job and the company she works for. She feels that it is the perfect place for her. She feels the company fits her value system quite well.
However, in any case, she cannot stand her sense of independence being infringed upon by another. Historically, when such points have occurred, she feels a need to assert herself, but often does not due to potential consequences or reactions from her superiors. In the cases she has acted assertively, she found it created more conflict than it was worth. Ultimately, she prefers to maintain a sense of work that brings her comfort and peace, and when that peace is threatened, she will remove herself from the situation.
With her need for autonomy and independence, as well as her deferment of position, power, or hierarchy in favor of calm, structured routine that brings a relationships of comfort and peace, this indicates an S-Valuing Quadra with themes of personal Independence, being best suited for Delta Quadra.
Hope prefers to look at things in a new ways, often being a reliable source of friendship to those she is close with, and often can be dismissive of people that she has not approved of. Though she often questions her qualifications to give advice, people have the tendency to start “spilling their guts” around her. They wind up telling her the story of their lives. Eventually this is what winds up being Hope’s closest friendships, where they all feel safe to share so that she can explore with them or that they can just be themselves.
When she’s not giving advice, she really enjoys time well spend doing productive things with her friends – ultimately getting things off the “to-do” list.
Hope is a listener. She possesses the seemingly natural knack to connect with others, while being able to help them feel better about themselves, and exercising the ability dive deep with them. This strongly supports both Introverted and Extroverted Ethics being strong and used appropriately in unison, with emphasis on the relations she builds with others. This supports Ideas (Extroverted Intuition) being in the Leading Function and Relations (Introverted Ethics) being in the Creative Function, and Demonstrative Emotions (Extroverted Ethics). I1 and R2, and E8, respectively.
Hope is confident that she can find a means to solve any problem that occurs in her life, and if she doesn’t know how, she’ll find out how. In such situations, she enjoys displaying her competence, but she encounters a rather painful caveat when it’s something she’s unfamiliar with. This is where she has a fear of looking unprepared, uneducated, or incompetent in front of others.
Hope enjoys the pursuit of heavy challenges, aimed to her desire to develop and grow, so that she can become more competent in daily life. Preferably to exercise her mental capabilities in the game of chess, often challenging herself to beat someone who is far more skilled than her so that she can improve her skillset and mental aptitude.
With the need to ensure that her demonstrations are performed competently, often needing time to prepare to avoid personal humiliation, but yet the desire to do it on her own demonstrates Valued Extroverted Logic (Pragmatism) in the Activating Function (P6). With the push for challenge charging her need for competence, Role Extroverted Sensing (F3) seems to be the best fit.
Rather than spending much time in serious reflection, she prefers to actively engage in the potential of what she’s doing. Although she’s often aware of how things may pan out, she tends to let events unfold with those she cares about, as to not stand in the way, rather than setting a chief aim of accomplishing the mission at hand, or contributing to some long-term ideal of the future. This indicates Ignoring Telos or T7.
Hope has displayed an increasing amount of frustration when she has to keep up “appearances,” as if she has to play the role of someone she’s not. Typically, this is most common in formal atmospheres, where the pressure of cultural environments impose on her ability to independently act in the manner that she feels. However, she doesn’t like displaying inappropriate emotions, and when she feels them, she feels that she must demonstrate them, but she can’t. And thus, she is torn. For her, all obligations must come from deep within her heart and not according to a system of customs.
To further clarify, she prefers not to follow rules that are explicit – only ones that come from the soul. As a result, she tends to find loopholes that she can exploit as long as she can be free of consequences, otherwise, she can see them coming and will not commit to such delinquency. This all indicates a strong reluctance for external laws, begrudgingly so, and when expected of her, she can often find herself imminently dissatisfied and torn. The best conclusion here is that Introverted Logic (Laws) falls into a place of Vulnerability or L4.
Hope doesn’t feel that she wants, needs, or can provide to the physical needs of others, including cooking good food. In fact, it’s incredibly draining for her. So she greatly appreciates when these things are done and provided for her. However, she does with to structure herself and regulate her own schedule to increase her output she relies more heavily on her mood to determine what she’s going to do in a day. Operating within the Delta Quadra values, these in combination with Vulnerable L leaves Suggestive Senses (S5) to be assigned to Hope’s cognition.
In summary, with I1, R2, F3, L4, S5, P6, T7, and E8 and a strong preference for Delta Quadra, I am confident that Hope’s type is none other than IEE.
